Basketball

Basketball

A rectangular court, two teams with five players in each team with the objective to shoot a ball through 18 inches (46 cm) hoop mounted to a backboard at a height of 10 feet (3.0m) is the game of basketball. The physical education professor and instructor at the International Young Men’s Christian Association Training School, Dr. James Naismith was the man behind the initial thought of the game of basketball, who after numerous futile efforts to continue training schedule on a rainy day laid the preliminary design of the game of basketball. Initially basketball was played with a soccer ball. It was only in the early 1950’s that the orange ball was introduced by Tony Hinkle to ensure better visibility for players and spectators.

Eventually this game of basketball gained immense popularity and was introduced among students of school and collages. Later this turned into a professional game with now the NBA league in the USA has more than a few million viewers and spectators globally. This game is relatively safer and can be played by men and women.

In order to embrace basketball as a profession you first need to master the rules of the game. Get yourself in the best of physical condition. Concentrate and focus in the art of dribbling. Work on your shooting skills. This enables the chances of winning the game. The ability to spin the ball and shoot with one hand is an added advantage in the professional game. Remember practice is the key here. Your ability can be enhanced with more drills and practice as a team. Getting yourself an agent in the advanced stage of your career can be handy too.
